A SQLite database and plain markdown in a folder you pick. The server listens on 127.0.0.1 and nowhere else. No cloud account, no sync service, nothing to breach.

After each conversation Jarvis files what it learned into markdown you can read and edit. Mention a decision in January and it still knows in June — no pasting context back in.

BrainOS speaks the same standard your agents already use for tools, so there’s no integration to wait for. Hand one a token and it can search your notes, recall what it knows about you and tick off your tasks — without your data leaving the machine.

Before you commit

What is in the free trial?

All of it. Every app, every AI provider, App Studio, the MCP server — the trial and the paid app are the same download. No account, no card, no email to start.

It runs for 7 days of use, not 7 calendar days. Days only count when you open BrainOS, so downloading it before a busy week costs you nothing.

What happens when the trial ends?

BrainOS becomes read-only. Nothing is locked, hidden or deleted: every map, note, task and habit still opens, and search and export still work. Only editing pauses.

Your files never depended on us anyway — a SQLite database and a folder of markdown on your own disk. Enter a licence key and editing resumes where it stopped.

Do I have to pay for an AI API on top?

Not necessarily. Already have ChatGPT Plus or Pro? Sign in and BrainOS runs on that. Same for a Z.ai GLM or Qwen coding plan — flat monthly fee, no per-token bill. Gemini’s free tier is genuinely enough for personal use. Otherwise you bring a key from Claude, OpenAI, Grok, Kimi or DeepSeek and pay them directly. BrainOS never marks that up — your key never passes through us.

Where exactly does my data live?

In a SQLite file and a folder of markdown and JSON on your own disk, in a location you choose. No BrainOS server, no account with us, no telemetry. The only thing that leaves your machine is a request to your own AI provider, sent straight to them.

Does it work offline?

Everything except the AI features. Maps, notes, todos, habits, projects, learning plans and search are all local and work on a plane. Only the AI calls need a network, because your provider is on it.

I already use Obsidian. Do I have to start over?

No. Point BrainOS at your vault folder and it imports the notes, preserves the links between them, and indexes them for Jarvis. Your vault isn’t modified.

Can other AI tools read my brain?

Only if you switch it on. BrainOS speaks Model Context Protocol, so Claude Code, Claude Desktop, agent runners like OpenClaw or Hermes, and anything you write against the MCP SDKs can connect — no per-product integration to wait for. But the server ships disabled, writes need a second switch, and tokens are scoped per area and revocable. A revoked token stops working on the very next request.

What if you stop building it?

Your copy keeps working. There’s no licence server to phone home to and no cloud backend to shut down — BrainOS runs entirely on your own computer, so nothing depends on me staying online. Your data is a SQLite file and plain markdown that any tool can read.

Is $49 really forever, or is it “lifetime” with an asterisk?

One payment, every future version, no renewal and no seat count. The price goes up for new buyers after the founding group — yours stays what you paid. There is no plan to move BrainOS to a subscription; if a genuinely server-side feature ever appears it would be optional and separate, and everything on this page stays included.

What happens after I pay?

Polar handles checkout as the merchant of record, taking the payment and any tax due where you are. It then emails your order confirmation with a licence key and a link to your purchase page, where your receipt and invoice live. Opening it asks for a one-time code sent to the same address, so nobody else can reach it. The purchase page also holds the installer if you are starting from scratch. After that, updates arrive inside the app.

What if it turns out not to be for me?

Email within 30 days of buying and you get the whole amount back. No justification needed — “it isn’t what I wanted” is a complete reason, and there’s no form to fill in or offer to sit through.

Nothing you made goes with it. Your maps, notes and markdown are on your own disk in formats that open without BrainOS, so a refund costs you no work.

My Mac says the update failed a code signature check

Copies installed before version 2.7.5 need one manual install to clear this. Open your purchase page from the Polar order email, download BrainOS again, and drag it into your Applications folder over the old copy.

macOS ties an installed app to the certificate that signed it and only accepts updates carrying the same one. The earliest builds were signed with a development certificate or none at all, so your copy correctly refuses the properly signed releases that followed. No update can get past it, because the check runs inside the app you already have.

Nothing of yours is touched: notes, maps, habits, chats and settings live in your Library folder, outside the application. Updates install themselves from then on.
